Day Trip to the Royal Gorge

Yesterday my family was visiting from Wisconsin and we decided to take a day trip down to the Royal Gorge in Canon City, Colorado.  The area had recently been burned out by fires, and many of the businesses are still rebuilding and you actually are still not allowed to go down into the Gorge or across the bridge.  The only way to view the area is just from a small overlook that is accessible by car or by hiking, we chose to stretch our legs and walk, and wow was it worth it.  What a beautiful place.  I can't believe I've never visited this place as long as I've been in Colorado, it really was spectacular.  This was my favorite from yesterday.

Highlights of a Special Needs Prom - What a beautiful night!

We were so blessed to be able to participate a couple of weeks ago in a prom that our church threw for disabled and special needs folks.  It turns out that most of these people do not attend the proms of their own high schools for many reasons, and miss out on this opportunity that so many take for granted.  Events like these is just one reason that I absolutely love my church.
It was such a special night and they really made it an amazing event.  There was a sit down plated dinner for over 140 guests plus their chaperones, (all chicken was donated by Chick Fil A, way to go once again guys!), and catered by a gal at the church for free.  The tables were decorated beautifully, and no details were left out.  There were stations set up to help the ladies with their hair and makeup and jewelry, and a red carpet for them to walk in on, with a crowd of loving people cheering them on.   After the dinner was dancing and games set up, and it really seemed that everyone had a blast!   My two daughters came and helped to man the backup camera and swapped off the other working so hard in the kitchen to plate dinners and clean, I was so proud of them.  My husband chaperoned and had a blast himself dancing and playing games.
This was truly a night to remember, Colorado Community Church, you are doing wonderful things!!

Edge Church (Denver Commercial Photography)

Here are a few photos from the Edge Church shoot I just had this past week in Aurora.  I loved the aesthetic of this building, it was very modern and cool inside.  Thanks Logic for another fun shoot!

I'm really excited this year to be involved with the Seniors Ignite Modeling Program, and my senior model shoot was step number one in getting off and running with my 2014 senior campaign.
The Seniors Ignite program is a great opportunity not just for my studio but also for the students in our area to compete for a spot as a national model winner, which will earn them an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas this year where they will participate in a three day fashion shoot, including hair, makeup, latest trends, and being photographed by some of the top photographers in the nation.
Any of the seniors who choose to have their photos taken through my studio can participate in the competition, which is a great opportunity, and we really hope we can have a winner this year!

We had a great time with our senior models this year and planned an amazing shoot.  Our inspiration was Mori Girls, which is a current Japanese lifestyle/fashion trend.  Mori girls are dedicated to living a cheerful, simple, natural life of a girl in the forest.  "Mori" in Japanese means forest.
I will share a few images at a time, since I had so many I loved!!
Here are the first few, I hope you love them as much as I do..

New Blog

I'm starting a new blog again, and I hope this will be the last time.  I'm guessing blogs are like anything else.. sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs until you find something you really like.
I wanted to start this blog out with something that is very near and dear to my heart, my girls.  We are on vacation in the north woods of Wisconsin, where despite the ticks that are freaking me out, we are having a great time.  The kids are having fun with their cousins and I think they've played harder here in two days than they've played in the last year!  It's really great to see them be free, be kids, and having the summer memories that will last them forever.
Here's to the start of an amazing summer!
